This movie requires Adobe Flash for playback.

What was that? That was Overground, a one-hit-wonder German boy band that had a brief encounter with fame in the mid-2000s (2003-2005). He didn’t get much camera time, but did you notice the Asian kid with the high voice?

The four bandmembers were chosen as part of a reality show on German TV, which saw more than 12,000 audition for a spot. Finally, the producers chose Ahmet “Akay” Kayed, Ken Miyao, Marq Porciuncula, and Meiko Reissmann to be members of the band. But back to the Asian kid: the angelic countertenor wasn’t Ken “Miyao” or “Meiko” Reissmann as you might have guessed. It was Marq Porciuncula, a then-16-year-old full-blooded Filipino born in Hamburg. Reportedly, the boys don’t talk much anymore.
