Some thought Tila Nguyen’s 15 minutes were over in February. But the Singapore-born daughter of Vietnamese refugees has again proved that all the Net pundits, marketing consultants and trend analysts still don’t get it when it comes to the youth market and ever evolving Web 2.0.

As her online persona, “Tila Tequila,” Nguyen was the cover girl for the June 28 issue of Penthouse magazine, her MySpace page has gotten more than 245 million hits, she’s appeared on several reality TV shows and hosted her own hip-hop dance show. She can currently be seen in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry at your local multiplex.

Last week—or was it a five years ago—she posed for nude a couple of times for Playboy’s CyberGirl series. In her import tuner magazine skank/model persona, she teased provocatively for Import Tuner magazine’s almost exclusively Asian American readership and, of course, she’s hoochie mama’ed next to riced-out drift cars at Hot Import Nites (HIN) events around the country, which led to layouts in Stuff and Maxim.

No dumb Asian blonde, Nguyen is now trying to leverage her unique brand of sleaze into a music career. It doesn’t seem to matter that she can’t really sing. She got style, and that’s more important than substance today.

How far will destiny propel Tila Tequila? Three-hundred-man gangbang videos? Who knows, a feature in TIME magazine? Ha! That’s the beauty of mashups, Google, wikis, Twitter, aggregators, Web APIs, podcasts. smartphones, ringtones, Flickr, XML, Wii and Craig’s List—you can lie about your age, get implants and be a multimedia superstar.

Live Free or Die Hard full of anti-Asian racist dialogue? Nah! The film industry’s changed. Racist, sexism and misogyny are not what Hollywood is about anymore. The haters at Slant Eye For The Round Eye and reappropriate say the sexist and racist dialogue throughout the Bruce Willis flick ruins the show for the Asian Americans in the audience. Aw, well, I hear Ratatouille is funny.

I’m tired of seeing all the cute Asian chicks giving it up to wimpy white guys instead of me. Argh. Says in the soon to be released Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix a character name Cho Chang (Katie Leung) gives Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) his first kiss.

And, finally, “Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch?” Hope not. But, according to TMZ, Mandie Taketa Brady has filed for divorce from her husband of eight years.
